Two measurements answer two questions
Imagine an interior 18 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 12 inches high, reached through an opening only 10 inches wide and 9 inches high. A bin might fit the interior but fail the entrance test in the orientation you intend to use. These are fictional numbers, not specifications for an RV.
Comparing total liters or cubic inches does not solve that problem. Volume can be equal while individual dimensions differ. Record the opening separately instead of assuming that an interior measurement implies access.
Check the same orientation through both
Our tool compares each permitted orientation with both the opening and the cavity. An orientation only passes when the opening width/height and the inside width/depth/height all meet your entered spare-space requirement.
It does not combine an entrance pass in one orientation with an interior pass in another. That would require rotating the object inside the compartment, which needs a path and movement calculation this tool does not perform. Keeping the same orientation is a deliberate limitation, not a claim to find every possible insertion method.
Understand a failed result
“No straight-in orientation found” does not prove an object can never enter. A diagonal maneuver or flexible item might behave differently, but neither is modeled. Do not force a real container or alter a vehicle based on a calculator result.
An unsuccessful check may suggest measuring again, finding a smaller option or keeping the compartment unchanged. The purpose is to identify a questionable purchase before it arrives, not to certify that every passing rectangle is suitable storage.
