Name the location first
Give the compartment a repeatable name, such as “galley upper left.” Record the vehicle model, year and any changes you know about in your private notes. Two cupboards that look similar are not necessarily identical inside.
Measure the clear opening with the door in the intended access position. A decorative frame or the door’s outside dimensions do not describe the passage available to a container. Record width and height at the narrowest relevant point without removing or altering hardware.
Find a genuinely clear cavity
Record a usable interior width, depth and height that describes a clear rectangular space. Pipes, hinges, shelf supports and other projections can make the whole compartment volume a misleading input. Do not assume you are allowed to cover, relocate or load equipment simply because it occupies storage space.
The fit tool assumes a clear opening aligned with a clear cavity. It does not inspect hidden obstacles, offsets, curved walls or the approach space outside the door. If those conditions do not match your compartment, keep the result as limited arithmetic rather than a complete fit conclusion.
Measure the complete bin
Use the largest outside dimensions with its lid and other projections in the configuration you intend to store. The calculator labels these length, width and original height, then compares permitted orientations. Its example measurements describe no particular product.
Save the inputs and limitations together. A dimensional result cannot establish allowable load or securement during travel. Refer to the actual RV and product documentation before buying or changing the arrangement.
